Dearth Of Books, Staff At District Library Pulwama
Pulwama: The Government District Library in Pulwama district of South Kashmir which was established in 1972 has been badly affected by the lack of acquisition of the latest books and also lacked adequate staff.
“The library has dearth of latest science and technology books. Only few newspapers including national papers are available in the library”, said a reader Javeed Ahmad.
“The district library is managed by two people” said a visitor. Adding “the computer lab has not been used since.”
“It is discouraging when aspiring candidates visit the library to read the books of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), but they are not available. This place should have been the center of resources for all of us”, said a visitor.
The library has about three thousand five hundred borrowers of registered books and hundreds of people visit daily, said a library official.
“We receive book stock based on priority and we have approached our top officials for the latest literature,” said the librarian Incharge Mohammad Yousuf.
Yousuf added that the computer lab was not functioning because there was no professional expertise available.
