DC Shopian holds Block Diwas at Devpora; listens Public Grievances
SHOPIAN, MAY 25: As part of weekly Block Diwas initiative of the government, a Public Outreach Programme was today presided over by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya in Devpora area of Shopian.
S.P Shopian, Tanushree was also present on the occasion.
DDC Member, ACP, CEO, DIO, DSWO, CHO, SHO BDO and other district officers and Block level officers/ officials, besides a large number of people attended the Block Diwas.
The programme witnessed participation of scores of individuals and prominent civil society and PRI members who projected their demands and apprised the DC about the development deficits in the area and provision of basic amenities besides coverage of eligible people in different government welfare schemes.
People submitted variety of demands highlighting issues and their resolution including repair/ macadamization of roads, better and more frequent drinking water supply, provision of Transformers and Electric Poles, sanctioning of Water supply schemes, PMAY and PM- Kisan cases; motorized tricycles for specially abled students, construction of bridge, provision of regular transport services, provision of health and wellness centre in the area, sewing machines for Craft centre for women and provision of other amenities.
On the occasion, listening to the demands of people, DC gave patient hearing and passed on spot instructions to the concerned departments for early execution of these works and coverage of people in welfare schemes as per norms, demanded by the public during the darbar.
Speaking at the event, the DC said that the government under its ambitious programme of Jal Jeevan will ensure provision of better and regular water supply in the district, besides intimating them that many roads in the area shall be macadamised in the ensuing year, especially under PMGSY/ NABARD.
He also appealed to the public especially youth to come forward and take part in development related activities in their respective areas and seek employment avenues in execution of developmental works and avail benefits of different govt schemes like Mumkin etc, while exhorted upon the public to be proactive in demanding resolution of their issues.
Later, the DC visited Govt. Upper Primary School, Devpora and took stock of academic activities. He also visited the Mid Day Meal Kitchen of the school. He interacted with teachers and passed directions to the school authorities to better teaching- learning outcomes.
