DC Kathua flags off Half Marathon and Kathua Cyclothon

KATHUA, MARCH 28: The district administration organised a Half Marathon and Cyclothon event under the ‘Festival of Youth’ at the Sports Stadium today. The event was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner, Rahul Pandey who encouraged young people to participate and promote a healthy lifestyle.

The event witnessed a large turnout of enthusiastic participants and was organised to promote fitness among the region’s youth. The winners were rewarded after passing through identified routes and returning to the starting point. All necessary precautions were taken to ensure the safety of participants.

Rahul Pandey said that the idea behind organising these events is to inculcate the value of fitness and a healthy lifestyle among youngsters so that they can contribute constructively to the nation’s growth and development. He also said that such events provide opportunities for youth to learn about various self-employment avenues by exposing them to growing market needs as per their skill set.

The event was attended by members of Cycling and Athletic clubs, District Youth Services & Sports Officer and Assistant Director Employment besides other district officers.
