DC Budgam chairs meeting on establishment of District Disability Rehabilitation Centre for specially-abled persons

 

Reviews establishment of District Hub for Women Empowerment

Budgam, September 25: The Deputy Commissioner Budgam, S F Hamid today chaired a meeting of members of district level committee on disability on the establishment of District Disability Rehabilitation Centre in Budgam.
The meeting among others was attended by ADC, Dr Nasir Ahmad, Secretary DLSA, ICDS, ACP, CMO, CEO, DSWO, ARTO, DYSS, Dy. SP Headquarter, TSWO, District Mission Coordinator, members of NGOs and representatives from specially-abled persons assignations.
At the outset, threadbare discussion was held on the identification of establishment of DDRC, where specially- abled persons shall receive medical and psychological help, aid including UDID cards, physio and speech therapies and prosthetic aid, counselling, medical aid and other services.
Stressing on the prompt delivery of services to the persons with disabilities, the DC asserted on adopting approach of empathy to reach out them at their doorsteps.
During the meeting, various officers were designated as nodal officers for the smooth functioning of the DDRC.
DC directed concerned to prepare and submit an action plan on the demands and needs of specially-abled persons for their proper rehabilitation and assistance.
Threadbare discussion on recruitment of staff and infrastructure of the DDRC and tentative arrangements for the same was also held during the meeting.
For easy accessibility, DC instructed all to ensure ramps at all government and non government facilities are constructed for the access of specially-abled persons.
Earlier, the DC also chaired a meeting on establishment of District Hub for Empowerment of Women Erstwhile Mahila Shakti Kendra, Sakhi One Stop Centre and District Disability Rehabilitation Centre.
DC took detailed review under DHEW-Mission Shakti and the staff was directed to conduct massive awareness campaign across the all blocks of the district.
Stressing on women empowerment in all rural areas of the district, DC directed concerned to prepare and submit action plan to be implemented at district level.
