DC B’la reviews progress under District Capex, Languishing Programme, ADP & other Major Projects

BARAMULLA, MAY 19: Directing all line departments to be more prompt and play proactive role in execution of all developmental works being carried out in the district, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar today fixed a timeline for completion of all the pending works in a time bound manner.

The DC passed these directions while taking a detailed sector wise review of the functioning of the departments including R&B, PMGSY, UDS and Education during a meeting held at Dak Bungalow, here.

At the outset, the DC through a Power Point presentation took a detailed review of each sector one by one and received feedback regarding the present status of developmental works.

While taking a review of the R&B Department, the current status of projects being executed in the district was briefed to the chair wherein the DC directed the concerned authorities to frame the list of the major pending projects of the district so that the appropriate steps are taken for its timely completion.

The DC also directed the concerned for immediate repairs of Potholes in the town for the convenience of the people and beautification of the area.

The DC also directed for the cutting and looping of Poplar trees causing the inconvenience for the general public. She further ordered for cutting of old dried trees in all the places causing inconvenience to the general people.

She also held a detailed and comprehensive review of the works under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) during which it was emphasized upon the concerned executing agencies to speed up the work process for timely completion of all the roads across the district. She also exhorted upon the officers to work in a coordinated manner so that all the desired targets are achieved.

While taking a review of the progress made under UDS, the DC stressed the concerned authorities to ensure the sanitation in all the prominent places and institutions, besides installation of street lights and establishing of dumping sites. She further instructed the concerned for painting of walls for the beautification of the areas.

The DC also sought cooperation of Urban Local Bodies to conduct maximum anti-polythene drives across the district and make people aware about the hazards of polythene. With regard to dog menace, the DC further asked the department to take up the issue with animal husbandry to ensure the cent percent sterilization of dogs.

The DC also held a comprehensive review of the Education department, during which she directed the executing agencies to work with added zeal so that all the pending works in the Education sector are accomplished.

The DC directed Chief Education Officer Baramulla to update the district administration with regard to providing Mid day meals to the students. She further asked to make a vigilant eye on the attendance of teachers.

Terming the role of all the departments more important,  the DC said that all Centrally Sponsored Schemes and programmes are the priority sectors of the government and needs special attention to pay at ground level by way of timely completion of target works.

Meanwhile, the DC also had a review of the implementation of developmental works  under Languishing Programme and Aspirational District Programme during which she directed officers to play a proactive role and ensure added promptness so that district Baramulla shall gain the pace in execution of development projects, programmes, initiatives and welfare schemes.

The meeting was attended by Joint Director Planning M. Yosuf Rather, SE’s, Chief Education Officer, Executive Engineers, Executive officers of Municipal Committees and other concerned officers of the district.
