Day 2: Srinagar-Jammu National Highway Closed For Vehicular Movement

JAMMU (KIMS) — Due to heavy rains, the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway has been closed for vehicular movement for the second consecutive day on Tuesday, officials said.

The highway has been closed for vehicular movement due to landslides, mudslides and shooting stones between Ramban and Banihal section.

Officials said, “Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44) is blocked due to Landslides/Mudslides/shooting stones at Dalwas, Peerha, near Peerha Tunnel, Mehad-Cafeteria, Jaiswal bridge, Trishul Morh, Seri, T2, Monkey Morh, Mom Passi, Gangroo, Hingni Marog, Kishtwari Pather, Shalghari Rampari. Tabela and Chamalwas areas of Ramban district.”

“People are advised to avoid journey on NH-44 till the weather improves and the road is clear. They are also advised to ask Traffic Control Units (TCU) before starting the journey,” they said.

On Monday, the highway was closed for vehicular movement due to mudslides and landslides caused by heavy rains between Ramban and Banihal section.

The other major highways in Jammu and Kashmir including Bhaderwah-Chamba, Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag, Mughal Road and Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri (SSG) Road are also closed for vehicular movement due to snow accumulation. — (KIMS)
