CRPF Pedals for Patriotism: Fit India Cycle Rally Energizes Srinagar Streets

Srinagar, July 27

As part of the Khelo India Scheme’s Fit India initiative, the Srinagar Sector of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) organized a vibrant Cycle Campaign this morning. The event began at the historic Lal Chowk Clock Tower and concluded at the scenic SKICC (Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre) on the banks of Dal Lake.

The cycling campaign aimed to promote physical fitness, national integration, and public participation in health-driven activities under the Government of India’s Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

Flagged off by Shri PK Singh, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Srinagar South CRPF, the rally saw participation from dozens of CRPF officers and jawans, all donning sports gear and riding in unison, displaying both discipline and patriotic fervor.

“Fitness is not just a lifestyle, it is a responsibility. Events like these boost the morale of our forces and inspire civilians as well,” said DIG PK Singh while addressing the media.

The entire route from Lal Chowk to SKICC was filled with energy and applause from onlookers, many of whom paused to cheer for the participants. CRPF jawans were seen holding tricolour flags, sending a powerful message of unity and nationalism.

While the event was a physical challenge, it also symbolized much more—a commitment to national health, youth engagement, and peacebuilding in the region. The CRPF continues to play a key role not just in security, but also in social outreach and public awareness campaigns.

“This is a perfect blend of duty and wellness. I feel proud to ride for my country,” said Constable Rakesh, one of the participating cyclists.

The rally created a visual spectacle, with colorful CRPF gear, flags, and slogans like “Fit India, Strong India” and “Khelo India, Badho India” echoing along the boulevard. Senior officers, local citizens, and youth also took photographs and selfies with the CRPF personnel, creating a sense of connection and mutual respect.

The CRPF Srinagar Sector has committed to conducting more such events in the future, including yoga drives, trekking expeditions, and community sports events, to bridge the gap between forces and civilians and promote holistic national development.
