COVID 3rd-wave unleashes terror in J&K: 14 die, 6,570 fresh cases
Srinagar, Jan 25 : Jammu and Kashmir Tuesday saw a record spike of the ngoing third wave of Covid as 14 people died while 6,570 persons tested positive—highest ever since pandemic—pushing the number of active cases to 47,376 in the UT.
With 14 more deaths, the death toll in J&K has reached 4,627 and 6,570 fresh positive cases reported on Tuesday have pushed the tally of positive cases to 409,166.
Of the exact number of 409,166 cases, 259,613 are from Kashmir division and 149,553 from Jammu division.
Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that among 6,570 new cases, 5,015 belong to Kashmir division while as 1,555 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 259,613 including 223,682 recoveries and 2,367 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 149,553 including 133,481 recoveries and 2,260 deaths.
The officials said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 47,376 including 33,564 from Kashmir division and 13,812 from Jammu division.
With 3,789 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 357,163 which is 87.29 percent of the total cases.
“Cases tested positive in J&K include 1,450 from Srinagar, 396 from Baramulla, 971 from Budgam, 107 from Pulwama, 395 from Kupwara, 416 from Anantnag, 243 from Bandipora, 295 from Ganderbal, 697 from Kulgam and 45 Shopian in Kashmir division while as 1,555 from Jammu division include 849 from Jammu district, 121 from Udhampur, 100 from Rajouri, 114 from Doda, 81 from Kathua, 112 from Samba, 12 from Kishtwar, 82 from Poonch, 41 from Ramban and 43 from Reasi,” officials disclosed.
Meanwhile, authorities said that no fresh cases of Mucormycosis popularly known as black fungus was reported in the UT and the tally stands at 51.
As per officials figures, 93,843 positive cases including 892 deaths and 80,334 recoveries are from Srinagar, 33,787 including 297 deaths and 27,548 recoveries are from Baramulla, 31,291 including 27,102 recoveries and 225 deaths are from Budgam, 17,390 including 15,995 recoveries and 198 deaths are from Pulwama, 17,672 including 171 deaths and 15,942 recoveries are from Kupwara, 20,036 including 17,100 recoveries and 214 deaths are from Anantnag, 12,682 cases including 10,787 and 111 deaths are from Bandipora, 12,711 including 11,092 recoveries and 82 deaths are from Ganderbal, 14,238 including 12,130 recoveries and 118 deaths are from Kulgam and 5,963 including 5,652 recoveries and 59 deaths are from Shopian.
In Jammu division, 68,217 including 58,098 recoveries and 1,193 deaths are from Jammu district, 13,426 including 12,223 recoveries and 143 deaths are from Udhampur, 12,242 including 11,535 recoveries and 244 deaths are from Rajouri, 9,101 including 8,050 recoveries and 139 deaths are from Doda, 10,654 including 9,972 recoveries and 158 deaths are from Kathua, 8,306 including 7,680 recoveries and 120 deaths are from Samba, 5,207 including 4,971 recoveries and 45 deaths are from Kishtwar, 7,294 including 6,850 recoveries and 104 deaths are from Poonch, 6,784 including 6,232 recoveries and 69 deaths are from Ramban and 8,322 including 7,870 recoveries and 45 deaths are from Reasi.
As per the daily information bulletin 5,657,024 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 10,106 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 47,376 persons are in isolation.
According to the bulletin, 5,168,046 persons have completed the surveillance period and 426,869 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 20,979,868 samples are available. Out of 20,979,868 the number of samples tested negative stands at 20,570,702 while as 409,166 have tested positive, among them 47,376 persons are active, 357,163 persons have recovered and 4,627 persons have died—(KNO)
