Covid-19 – J&K records biggest spike: 3474 positive cases, 26 deaths
Srinagar, Apr 29: The Jammu and Kashmir Union territory on Thursday reported 3,474 positive cases highest ever since pandemic pushing the number of active cases to 26,1443 which otherwise were less than 600 around a month before besides that 26 more persons who were tested positive for Covid-19 have died.
With 26 more deaths, the death toll has reached to 2,253 and the active cases continue to increase and the recovery rate decreases with each passing day. 3,474 fresh positive cases reported on Thursday pushed the tally of positive cases to 172,551.
Of the exact number of 172,551 cases, 104,199 are from Kashmir and 68,352 from Jammu division. Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that among 3,474 new cases, 2,450 belong to Kashmir division while as 1,024 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 104,199 including 86,489 recoveries and 1,381 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 68,352 including 57,665 recoveries and 872 deaths.
The officials said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 26,144 including 16,329 from Kashmir division and 9,815 from Jammu division.
With 1,617 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 142,537 which is 83.54 percent of the total cases.
“Cases tested positive in J&K include 1,017 from Srinagar, 429 from Baramulla, 268 from Budgam, 137 from Pulwama, 71 from Kupwara, 228 from Anantnag, 51 from Bandipora, 57 from Ganderbal, 181 from Kulgam and 11 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 1,024 from Jammu division include 489 from Jammu, 128 from Udhampur, 111 from Rajouri, 48 from Doda, 58 from Kathua, 77 from Samba, 21 from Kishtwar, 32 from Poonch, 17 from Ramban and 43 from Reasi,” officials disclosed.
Out of 26 deaths reported today, 07 died in GMC Jammu, 01 in DH Udhampur, 01 in Military Hosp, 01 in GMC Doda, 01 in CHC Basantgarh, 01 in GN Hosp (MCH), 02 in GMC Kathua, 03 Home (Brought Dead), 02 in JLNM Sgr, 01 in SKIMS Soura, 01 in GMC Baramulla, 02 in GMC Anantnag, 02 in DH Pulwama, 01 CD Hosp Sgr.
As per officials figures, 42,506 positive cases including 527 deaths and 34,027 recoveries are from Srinagar, 12,643 including 197 deaths and 10,237 recoveries are from Baramulla, 10,461 including 9,002 recoveries and 130 deaths are from Budgam, 7,053 including 6,114 recoveries and 101 deaths are from Pulwama, 6,861 including 101 deaths and 5,973 recoveries are from Kupwara, 6,760 including 5,547 recoveries and 108 deaths are from Anantnag, 5,404 cases including 4,975 and 64 deaths are from Bandipora, 5,365 including 4,896 recoveries and 49 deaths are from Ganderbal, 4,191 including 3,041 recoveries and 62 deaths are from Kulgam and 2,955 including 2,677 recoveries and 42 deaths are from Shopian.
In Jammu division, 34,124 including 27,737 recoveries and 465 deaths are from Jammu district, 5,727 including 5,358 recoveries and 65 deaths are from Udhampur, 4,744 including 3,915 recoveries and 64 deaths are from Rajouri, 3,767 including 3,462 recoveries and 66 deaths are from Doda, 4,437 including 3,916 recoveries and 62 deaths are from Kathua, 3,559 including 2,867 recoveries and 52 deaths are from Samba, 2,946 including 2,813 recoveries and 22 deaths are from Kishtwar, 2,914 including 2,578 recoveries and 34 deaths are from Poonch, 2,552 including 2,293 recoveries and 24 deaths are from Ramban and 3,382 including 2,726 recoveries and 18 deaths are from Reasi.
As per the daily information bulletin 1,797,502 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 95,074 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 26,144 persons are in isolation.
According to the bulletin, 1,552,574 persons have completed surveillance period and 121,457 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 7,222,471 samples are available. Out of 7,222,471 the number of samples tested negative stands at 7,049,920 while as 172,551 have tested positive, among them 26,144 persons are active, 144,154 persons have recovered and 2,253 persons have died.
