Covid-19: ‘Dance of Death’ in J&K as 30 persons die, 3532 test positive
Srinagar, Apr 30: The Jammu and Kashmir Union territory on Friday reported 3,532 positive cases. highest ever since pandemic pushing the number of active cases to 28,359 which otherwise were less than 600 around a month before besides that 30 more persons who were tested positive for Covid-19 have died.
With 30 more deaths, the death toll has reached to 2,283 and the active cases continue to increase and the recovery rate decreases with each passing day. 3,532 fresh positive cases reported on Friday pushed the tally of positive cases to 176,083.
Of the exact number of 176,083 cases, 106,559 are from Kashmir and 69,524 from Jammu division. Officials told the news agency Kashmir News Observer that among 3,532 new cases, 2,360 belong to Kashmir division while as 1,172 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 106,559 including 87,466 recoveries and 1,394 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 69,524 including 57,975 recoveries and 889 deaths.
The officials said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 28,359 including 17,699 from Kashmir division and 10,660 from Jammu division.
With 1,287 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 145,441 which is 82.59 percent of the total cases.
They said that at least two dozen doctors from different hospitals have been tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday.
“Cases tested positive in J&K include 932 from Srinagar, 316 from Baramulla, 160 from Budgam, 110 from Pulwama, 206 from Kupwara, 239 from Anantnag, 50 from Bandipora, 77 from Ganderbal, 165 from Kulgam and 105 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 1,172 from Jammu division include 495 from Jammu, 125 from Udhampur, 133 from Rajouri, 37 from Doda, 95 from Kathua, 82 from Samba, 13 from Kishtwar, 42 from Poonch, 74 from Ramban and 76 from Reasi,” officials disclosed.
Out of 30 deaths reported today, 09 died in GMC Jammu, 02 in GMC Rajouri, 01 in DMC Ludhiana, 01 in Raj Hosp Pathankot, 04 Home (Brought Dead), 01in JLNM Sgr, 05 in SKIMS Soura, 04 in SMHS, 02 in CD Hosp Sgr. 01 in GMC Anantnag.
As per officials figures, 43,438 positive cases including 536 deaths and 34,556 recoveries are from Srinagar, 12,959 including 197 deaths and 10,370 recoveries are from Baramulla, 10,621 including 9,101 recoveries and 131 deaths are from Budgam, 7,163 including 6,124 recoveries and 101 deaths are from Pulwama, 7,067 including 101 deaths and 6,028 recoveries are from Kupwara, 6,999 including 5,586 recoveries and 110 deaths are from Anantnag, 5,454 cases including 4,988 and 64 deaths are from Bandipora, 5,442 including 4,908 recoveries and 49 deaths are from Ganderbal, 4,356 including 3,128 recoveries and 63 deaths are from Kulgam and 3,060 including 2,677 recoveries and 42 deaths are from Shopian.
In Jammu division, 34,619 including 27,952 recoveries and 478 deaths are from Jammu district, 6,052 including 5,404 recoveries and 65 deaths are from Udhampur, 4,877 including 3,919 recoveries and 66 deaths are from Rajouri, 3,804 including 3,466 recoveries and 66 deaths are from Doda, 4,532 including 3,951 recoveries and 63 deaths are from Kathua, 3,641 including 2,867 recoveries and 52 deaths are from Samba, 2,959 including 2,813 recoveries and 22 deaths are from Kishtwar, 2,956 including 2,584 recoveries and 34 deaths are from Poonch, 2,626 including 2,293 recoveries and 25 deaths are from Ramban and 3,458 including 2,726 recoveries and 18 deaths are from Reasi.
As per the daily information bulletin 1,807,565 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 95,113 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 28,359 persons are in isolation.
According to the bulletin, 1,560,440 persons have completed surveillance period and 121,370 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 7,268,521 samples are available. Out of 7,268,521 the number of samples tested negative stands at 7,092,438 while as 176,083 have tested positive, among them 28,359 persons are active, 145,441 persons have recovered and 2,283 persons have died.(KNO)
