Covid-19 claims 16 more lives in 24 hours, J&K toll 368
Srinagar, July 30: Sixteen more persons including a CRPF man died of COVID-19 in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, thus taking the number of people who died due to the virus in the Union Territory to 368.
Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the sixteen patients who died include a 75-year-old woman from Shivpora Srinagar, a 72-year-old man from Batamallo Srinagar, a 55-year-old CRPF man of 198 battalion, a 66-year-old woman from Keegam Shopian, a 55-year-old man from Humhama Budgam, a 70-year old lady woman from Delina Baramulla, a 75-year-old male from Kreeri Baramulla, a 75-year-old man from Maldera Shopian, a 52-year-old woman from Ashajipora Anantnag, a 64-year-old man from Hajin Bandipora, a 60-year-old man Nawa Kadal Srinagar, an 80-year-man from Turkawangam Shopian, an elderly man from Natipora Srinagar, a 56-year-old woman from Shastri Nagar Jammu, a 70-year-old lady from Shopian and an 82-year-old man from Lal Bazar Srinagar.
An official from SKIMS said that a 75-year-old woman from Shivpora, Srinagar who was admitted on 26 July, died in the morning. He said that a 72-year-old man from Batamaloo Srinagar, who was admitted on 21 July also died today. They were tested positive for the COVID-19.
The official further said that a CRPF man who was tested positive and was posted with the 198 battalion passed away in SKIMS Soura in the morning. He added that a 52-year-old woman from Ashajipora who was admitted on 29 July and was tested positive after her death on Thursday.
Regarding a patient from Nawa Kadal Srinagar, he said that patient was admitted on 18 July and expired on Thursday afternoon. “He was tested positive for the virus too,” the official said.
He further added that an 82-year-old man from Lal Bazar Srinagar who was admitted in 19 July died on Thursday.
An official from CD hospital said that a 66-year-old woman from Keegam Shopian who was admitted on 26 July died on Thursday.
He further added that a 58-year-old man from Humhama Budgam who was admitted on 22 July also died on Thursday.
An official from SMHS said that an elderly man from Hajin Bandipora who was admitted on 25 July with bilateral Pneumonia died on Thursday.
He said that an elderly man from Natipora Srinagar whose sample was taken on 29 July died on Thursday and was tested positive for COVID-19 after death.
He added that a 70-year-old woman from Shopian whose sample was taken on 28 July and was tested positive on Thursday after death.
An official from GMC Baramulla told KNO that a 70-year-old man from Delina Baramulla who was admitted on 26 July with bilateral Pneumonia died on Wednesday evening.
He added that a 75-year-old man from Kreeri Baramulla who was admitted on 28 July died on Wednesday evening.
An official from District Hospital Anantnag said that a 75-year-old man from Maldera Shopian who was admitted at District hospital Pulwama a few days before with chest infection died on Thursday. All the deceased had tested positive for the Coronavirus, officials said.
An official from Shopian said that an 80-year-old male who was admitted few days before died on Thursday after testing positive for COVID-19.
An official from GMC Jammu said that a 56-year-old woman from Shastri Nagar Jammu who was brought dead to GMC Jammu on 29 July was tested positive after death on Thursday.
The patient was suffering from diabetes mellitus and respiratory distress, he said. With sixteen fresh deaths, the death toll in J&K has reached to 368 including 342 from Kashmir division and 26 from Jammu division. (KNO)
