Pulwama: At a time when Covid-19 has engulfed the whole world in the form of a pandemic-world has ever witnessed before. When every sphere of life had come to a standstill across the world, education becomes no exception. with already crumbling and weak Education system in Kashmir, Mudasir Dar, a renowned student activist from south Kashmir’s Pulwama district becomes a ray of hope for thousands of students here, distributing the study materials upto 12th standard free of cost.

Mudasir is an active volunteer in South Kashmir helping the needy and poor people through Sajid Iqbal Foundation. While he was on a mission to distribute the food & medicines among the poor & needy at their doorsteps, he found children enquiring about not having enough study material at home. He took the task on head.

Leaving before dawn from his home at Mughalpora, he reaches to every needy student on phone call, delivers study material including textbooks, notebooks, notes, selected refrences and other stationary before he returns back after the dusk.

After lockdown was imposed on March 24 In India, students across the country were asked to attend the online classes. But in Kashmir the story for students was something different with only a working low speed 2G internet ready to cope the big screen.

“When students were asked to join the online classes via zoom I was deeply moved when I found hundreds of indigent students who did not have access to smartphones. One day I was sitting at my home next to my cousin who was attending her classes on 2G that make it impossible for her to see or listen to her teacher properly. That made me think to choose an alternate route for those students and without wasting a second I choose mine. The moment I decided to do it, there was no looking back”. Mudasir said.

During shutdowns and indefinite strikes, seeing children live without education always becomes a matter of great concern and grief for activists like Mudasir in Kashmir.

‘Watching children get education should become a purpose in our lives. There is no bigger contentment than watching even one out of school child gain an education even in times of global pandemic’. He added

A lone warrior who has determined to forge ahead in his mission to ensure that all children have access to mandatory education barring the circumstances they are living in, Mudasir made a contact helpline available for the needy students who want to get benefitted from his initiative.
For the students who think a brother can do something for them I’m a text or a phone call away. Mudasir concluded.
