Countdown to International Women’s Day : Celebrations in Pulwama
Pulwama, March 07: In the run up to International Women’s Day, a grand celebration was organized by NABARD in collaboration with the District Information Centre, Pulwama. The event, held in Pulwama, featured prominent dignitaries and the active participation of various stakeholders working toward the empowerment of women.
The program was graced by the presence of the District Information Officer, Pulwama, who was invited as the Chief Guest of the event. The celebrations also witnessed Deputy Registrar Cooperatives, DDM NABARD, DPMs and BPMs of NRLM, along with SHG (Self-Help Group) women members, who have played an instrumental role in shaping the local economic landscape. The event brought together a vibrant mix of government officials, cooperative leaders and women from grassroots communities.
The event was an opportunity to acknowledge the outstanding contributions of women in Pulwama and to celebrate their pivotal role in socio-economic development. A key highlight was the inspirational speeches by dignitaries who emphasized the importance of fostering gender equality and empowering women in every sphere of life, including the economic and social domains.
NABARD and NRLM have consistently focused on strengthening women’s participation in the Self-Help Group movement, recognizing that women are crucial to the progress of communities. This celebration highlighted the significant progress made through these initiatives in Pulwama, where countless women have become entrepreneurs, community leaders, and active participants in the economic development of the region.
In her address, the Chief Guest, District Information Officer, Pulwama, praised the unwavering determination and resilience of the women in Pulwama, particularly the SHG members, who have been catalysts for change in their communities. She further highlighted the role of NABARD and other government organizations in facilitating women’s access to resources, training and financial independence.
DDM NABARD and other speakers also underlined the positive impact of financial literacy, cooperative models and entrepreneurship programs that empower women to take charge of their futures, while encouraging participants to continue striving for progress in all areas of life.
