Costly Equipments in schools prone to theft due to lack of night guards
Srinagar, April 14: Schools across Kashmir are facing a threat of theft of costly lab equipments without night guards.Government schools earlier this year received digital push with 128 Computer Aided Learning Centres; 200 ICT Labs established under Samagra Shiksha across J&K but these costly equipments have been left on the mercy of God as most of the schools are without night chowkidars to gaurd the schools.
The Secondary and Higher secondary Schools across the Jammu and Kashmir have been equipped with digital labs including, desktops, projectors and other costly tools have been provided by the government with the aim at making studies more interesting and result-oriented, but most of the schools are without night Chowkidars.
A staff member of a Government school in North Kashmir told Kashmir news service (KNS) that they received costly equipments for digital computer lab but they are worried about its safety.
“our school is without night chowkidar. Even there is no fencing of school compound. It can be soft target for robbery. The administration should create posts for night chowkidars in these school,” he added.
When Kashmir News Service (KNS) contacted Secretary School Education, BK Singh, he said, ” at the moment we don’t have posts for night chowkidars, but we always believe the safety and security of school property is very prime concern. We will look into it,”he added.(KNS)
