Cop Killed, Three Injured In Batmaloo Shootout; Militants Managed To Escape

Srinagar: A Special Operations Group (SOG) man was killed and three, including a policeman and two CRPF personnel, injured in a shootout with the militants in Batamaloo area of Srinagar city on Sunday, police said.

“On a specific information about presence of militants in a hideout, an operation was launched in Batmaloo Srinagar leading to exchange of fire, one SOG personal killed, one JKP & 2 CRPF Jawans sustained injuries, operation continues,” DGP SP Vaid said on Twitter.

Reports said that the shootout took place near the Unani hospital in Batmaloo.

They said that the militants managed to escape from the spot after exchanging fire with the forces.

Meanwhile, mobile Internet service has been suspended in Srinagar. An official said the service was suspended as a “precautionary measure”. (GNS)
