Coordination Meeting Held to Boost Rail-Based Food Grain Transport in Jammu & Kashmir
A high-level coordination meeting between the Railways and the Food Corporation of India (FCI) took place today, August 4, 2025, at the office of Shri Uchit Singhal, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu Railway Division.
The meeting was graced by Shri Chatru Naik, General Manager, FCI Jammu & Kashmir Region, and Shri Jagan, Assistant General Manager, FCI Jammu & Kashmir. The discussions centered around critical issues pertaining to the movement of freight, with a particular focus on solutions to enhance food grain logistics in the region.
During the interaction, Shri Uchit Singhal provided a comprehensive update on the planned Goodshed at Anantnag Railway Station. He informed FCI officials that an official notification regarding the construction of this facility is expected to be issued soon. The forthcoming Goodshed is anticipated to provide a major boost to FCI’s operations by reducing transportation costs and minimizing potential transit delays for food grain consignments within the Kashmir Valley.
Both parties also explored strategies to increase freight traffic at the FCI Jammu siding. Special emphasis was placed on ensuring efficient and timely handling of all rakes to further strengthen the supply chain and meet the food security needs of Jammu & Kashmir.
The meeting marks a important step toward improving and modernizing the transportation of essential commodities in the region, signaling renewed cooperation between the Railways and FCI to deliver better service and efficiency.
