Srinagar, Oct 18: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah is likely to call Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday and press for restoration of statehood to J&K.
During the meeting, Abdullah is expected to submit a formal demand for the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
Abdullah’s push for full statehood is part of a broader effort to regain political stability and public trust in the J&K following the abrogation of Article 370.
His demand reflects the aspirations of many in Jammu and Kashmir, who seek the restoration of the J&K pre-August 2019 status.
To press for restoration of Statehood was one of promises mentioned in the National Conference manifesto.
