Srinagar: In light of the continuing severe weather conditions and the forecasts predicting worsening conditions, Sakina Itoo, the Minister of School and Higher Education, announced via a post on X (formerly Twitter) that classwork in all schools across the valley will remain suspended for one day tomorrow, April 21.

The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety and well-being of all students. The minister emphasized the importance of prioritizing the security of children amidst the challenging weather.

“Given the current weather situation and in the best interest of our students, we have decided to suspend classwork in all schools tomorrow. Stay safe and take necessary precautions,” Sakina Itoo wrote in her message.

Parents and guardians have been urged to monitor weather updates and ensure children remain indoors during this period of inclement weather. Educational authorities have also been directed to communicate effectively with school administrations and the public regarding further updates.

The Valley has been experiencing heavy rainfall and thunderstorms over the past few days, leading to waterlogging and disruptions in daily life. Authorities remain vigilant and are monitoring the situation closely to decide on any further measures.
