Clashes Erupt As Police Seal Jamaat Office In Pulwama

Pulwama: Government forces on Friday evening sealed the district offices of Jama’at-e-Islami in Anantnag and Pulwama districts of south Kashmir.

Sources said the police and revenue officials raided these offices and sealed them.

In Pulwama, clashes erupted between youth and the government forces when the latter were sealing the Jama’at offices there, said a witness.

He said youth pelted the forces with stones when they were sealing ‘Darul Huda’, the district office of the socio-religious outfit in Pulwama.

The forces, he said, resorted to teargas shelling to disperse the protesting youth.

The raids were going on in adjoining districts when this report was being filed late Friday evening. (GK)
