CIK Detains Radical Social Media User for Spreading Extremist Propaganda
Srinagar, May 6, 2025 – In a decisive move to counter online radicalization and protect Kashmiri youth from falling prey to extremist ideologies, Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) has detained Hilal Mir, also known as Hilal Saqi, a resident of Bemina, Srinagar.
Mir, operating under the social media X-handle ‘hilal mir’ and Facebook account ‘Mir Hilal,’ was allegedly disseminating extremist content aimed at promoting disaffection, secessionist ideology, and undermining India’s image. Authorities seized digital devices, including a mobile phone and laptop, containing incriminating material and propaganda.
Preliminary investigations suggest Mir actively incited secessionist sentiments among the youth by portraying Kashmiris as victims of systemic extermination, attempting to foster public resentment and disturb peace in the region.
