Chanapora residents protest against derogatory remarks on Prophet Muhammad (saw)

Srinagar: The residents of Chanapora locality in Srinagar city on Wednesday staged a peaceful protest against derogatory remarks on Prophet Muhammad (saw).

They took out a peaceful protest rally and were demanding the strict action against the culprits involved in making derogatory remarks on Prophet Muhammad (saw).

The protestors were raising slogans in favour of Islam against demanding the arrest of persons involved in hurting the sentiments of Muslims.

Earlier, a video went viral on social media in which a Hindu man was seen making derogatory remarks against the Prophet Muhammad (saw) after which protests were held in different parts of Jammu and Kashmir.

IGP Jammu, Mukesh Singh said that “two accused identified as Satpal and Deepak were arrested in this case and search for third was on that could be seen in the controversial video.”

“I appeal to the people to desist from circulating the video as it will harm communal amity. The police will never tolerate these persons who create tensions between communities. Police will act harshly against such people,” Singh further said.
