Chairman FM Bilawal addresses event regarding the Golden Jubilee Year of the Constitution

Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari addressing the debut event for PPP’s initiative to celebrate 2023 as the Golden Jubilee Year of the Constitution at the Parliament House, Islamabad said that Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto gave us a constitution in which the common people were protected.
He said that the constitution of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto protects everyone, from the journalists to the farmers and from women to students and common man.

If this constitution is followed, the people will attain their rights. Protection of the constitution is the guarantee of the country’s development and progress. This is an opportunity to apprise the new generation of the constitution of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, in which the right of ‘One Man, One Vote’ was given. Before Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, the poor people did not have the right to vote as only taxpayers could do so.

The country’s institutions have been set up by the same constitution. Our provinces also have governments and that is so because of the constitution. To uphold the constitution, we will have to go through more difficult times. The latest selected rule was also a test for the constitution. We are still going through a test. The loss that was sustained by the constitution during Imran Khan’s tenure did not happen in any other era. Imran Khan threatened the institutions and tried to weaken the constitution.
Chairman FM Bilawal said that while celebrating the Golden Jubilee of the Constitution, we should remember not only to revisit our history but also focus on the current issues. Golden Jubilee celebrations will take place throughout the year, including study circles and seminars.
There influx of events throughout the year will prepare us to defend the democracy and combat any threats to it. The opposition has taken decisions motivated by political extremism which has damaged the constitution. The opposition says that it would rather opt to talk to the Taliban who martyred the children of APS but not to the government. We are going through unprecedented economic and political crises. We are making efforts for the system to be run in an improved manner.
Chairman FM Bilawal stated that the PPP is preparing to form a committee in which all political parties would be invited to participate as an effort to form a code of conduct on the minimal agenda of running the Parliament, elections and cooperating for the betterment of the nation. If the mindset of ‘every party for itself’ is followed then this will be the country’s loss.
