CASO Called Off In Kokernag After Brief Shootout

Anantnag: A cordon and search operation launched in Dehruna village of Kokernag in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district was called off on Saturday afternoon.

Reports said that the militants and the security forces exchanged brief gunfire soon after the CASO was launched in Dehruna village today morning.

However, no contact was established with the militants later on, they said, adding that the searches were called off after several hours.

Witnesses said that the residents pelted the security forces with stones during the operation. The forces, they said, responded by firing tear gas shells.
