In conversation with SHIVANGI – HOUSE OF COMMERCIAL CLOTHING, a hospitality & surgical clothing brand giving opportunities to homemakers.
Empowerment – a widely & often over-used term in today’s era; means many things to many people, to Mrs. Shraddha Agrawal & Shivangi, it means financial freedom, which this mother-daughter duo aims to bring to every homemaker around. SHIVANGI – House of commercial clothing is a hospitality & surgical garment brand, located in the heart of Sangam City – Prayagraj. The brand is headed by Mrs. Shraddha Agrawal & her daughter – Shivangi Agrawal, these enthusiastic women have built the unit from the ground up, and have overcome many hurdles along the way.
Read on to learn more about the motivating story of this female lead enterprise.
When asked about the motivation behind the brand and the work structure, Mrs. Shraddha Agrawal, the founder says, “I always wanted to be a lecturer, due to certain circumstances, I wasn’t able to pursue my dreams, but I was ardent to keep earning for myself and my family and hence started my own garment manufacturing unit. Over time I realized the financial needs of women around, and gradually started training them and making them self-sufficient.”
Mrs. Agrawal started her journey as a teacher, which then gave way to a boutique, and then bulk garment manufacturing for hotels and restaurants, over time the clientele increased, which gave way to more product categories and eventually a manufacturing unit altogether.
The brand proudly boasts its work structure, wherein, they hire local otherwise housewives, girls, and women from underprivileged family backgrounds then trains and provide them the opportunity for on-site stitching jobs. If you doubt the scale of their business – you would be astonished by the number of clients they already serve – from hotels to hospitals, restaurants, cafes, spa centers, and educational institutes – they have a vast portfolio – making them one of the best garment manufacturers in Uttar Pradesh.
Inspired is a small word when it comes to their journey – from a spare room in their house to a full-fledged manufacturing unit – they have surely come a long way. Mrs. Agrawal now covers the offline market, and Shivangi takes care of E-commerce and other online activities.
I was intrigued by how ambitious both of them are, which was evident in their plans for the future – Shivangi, the young entrepreneur and alumni of NIFT – one of the most prestigious institutions of India says, “We plan on aggressive expansion in a few years, having done my bachelor’s in the apparel field, I have a detailed plan in my head. We have already begun the second phase of E-Commerce, and plan on nationwide expansion in years to come. There are many side projects as well that are set to be launched by the end of the coming year.”
Shivangi has recently completed her graduation from NIFT and is now leading the e-com team in the firm along with some freelance work as a content writer & designer, alongside she is also pursuing her MBA.
While many businesses fail due to the power struggle between family members, SHIVANGI House is thriving with perfectly described roles between the two females, and a supportive workforce. The workplace has a nurturing environment and encourages every individual employee to learn and grow in life. The family has taken it upon themselves to maintain the well-being of their employees.
