Cabinet meeting underway under CM Omar Abdullah’s chairmanship

The Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, began early this morning at around 10:30 am at the Civil Secretariat and is currently underway. Ministers and senior officials are in attendance.

 

 

 

According to sources, the Cabinet is discussing a policy to allot five-marla plots to families whose houses were damaged by recent floods, cloudbursts, and landslides during the monsoon, particularly on August 14 and 26.

 

 

 

The meeting is also deliberating on a proposal to infuse Rs 118 crore into the Jammu Central Cooperative Bank and the Anantnag Central Cooperative Bank to improve their financial health.

 

 

 

Enhancement of the pay scale of Village Level Workers of the Rural Development Department is another item under consideration.

 

 

 

 

In addition, a proposal to re-designate around 20 District Panchayat Officer posts as Block Development Officers is being discussed to strengthen grassroots administration.

 

 

 

 

Sources said financial matters, including issues related to central funding, are also on the agenda, while the 2026–27 UT Budget is expected to be presented in March next year.

 

 

 

 

All decisions taken in the Cabinet meeting will be subject to approval by the Lieutenant Governor.
