burglar falls asleep while robbing, woken up by cops
In a rather bizarre incident, a thief who broke into a locked house in Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow decided to take a nap in the comfort of an air conditioner after completing his crime. The next morning, he woke up surrounded by the police team. The authorities promptly arrested the thief and charged him under IPC section 379A for the theft12.
The incident unfolded in Sector 20 of Indiranagar, where the thief sneaked into the house on Saturday night. He meticulously rummaged through the premises, collected his loot, and then switched on the AC to take a break. However, perhaps due to a combination of alcohol and exhaustion, the man dozed off. Little did he know that his impromptu nap would lead to his capture.
Neighbors noticed the main door of the house ajar on Sunday morning, which seemed suspicious since no one currently resides there. Curious, they peered inside and discovered the house ransacked, with the thief sound asleep amidst the stolen goods. Concerned, they immediately alerted the police. When the officers arrived, they found the intruder still in deep slumber. Despite their attempts to wake him, the thief remained unresponsive due to his intoxicated state. Eventually, the police managed to rouse him and took him into custody.
The house belongs to Dr. Sunil Pandey, who is associated with Balrampur Hospital in Lucknow and is currently posted in Varanasi. After his father’s passing last year, the house has remained locked, as Dr. Pandey now lives with his family in Varanasi and only visits the property occasionally. It’s a peculiar tale of criminal activity, unexpected rest, and a rude awakening by law enforcement—a story that will likely be shared and chuckled about for some time in the neighborhood.
