Budgam working journalists association elects body
Ashraf Dar of Gulistan elected as president, Daily Roshni correspondent as vice-president
Budgam, 31 Dec : The Budgam working journalist association (BWJA) in a bid to strengthen the media scenario and address the problems faced by journalists, held an election on Saturday to constitute its body.
The election was held at Sheikh-Ul-Alam hall in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
the voting process was attended by all the professional Journalists of the district and around 43 members participated in the election.
A spokesperson of the association said that Mr Mohammad Ashraf Dar of Gulistan News was unanimously elected as president while The Daily Roshni Budgam reporter Mr Sarwar Maqbool was elected as vice-president of the association.
He said that Mr Mohammad Younis Parray of All India Radio AIR was elected as General Secretary and of Mr fayaz Ahmad Sofi Beraue Chief ANN as the treasurer of the association.
He said that the newly constituted body vowed to take up the issues confronting the journalists of the district and ensure all media ethics are adhered to.
The spokesperson said that Budgam based journalists thanked the election organising body for holding the free and fair elections.
