Budgam Police Attach Property Worth Rs 35 Lakh of Accused Drug Peddler
Srinagar, Nov 23 : Budgam Police on Sunday attached immovable property valued at around thirty five lakh rupees along with a Maruti A Star vehicle belonging to an accused drug peddler in the Magam area. The action was taken as part of an intensified campaign against the drug trade in the district.
Police said the attached property, a double storey residential house located at Mazhama Magam, belongs to Hilal Ahmad Mir known locally as Hilal Galwan, son of Ghulam Mohammad Mir. He is an accused in FIR number 29 of 2020 registered under sections 8, 22 and 29 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Magam.
Investigations revealed that the accused had raised the house and other assets from proceeds of illicit narcotics trafficking. Police said that after completing the required legal formalities and establishing concrete evidence, the property and the vehicle bearing registration number JK05B 4705 were formally seized under section 68 F of the NDPS Act.
Officials said the department will continue strict action against drug peddlers and those involved in generating assets through narcotics trade in the district. [KNT]
