Body of non-local minor girl recovered; rape and murder suspected
Srinagar: Body of a non-local minor girl was found Saturday from a nallah in Hayatpora Beerwah area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
Reports reaching GNS said that the non-local minor girl was abducted last evening and later on her body was found from a nallah in Hayatpora today morning after thorough searches jointly by police and local people.
“Her body was found from a nallah running adjacent to the shed she was putting up with her parents”.
The parents of the victim work in a brick kiln (MB7) in the district, reports said.
According to the family, the girl went missing last evening while she was playing outside. We looked for her everywhere possible place but could not find her, they said.
We approached the police following which a case was registered and a search operation was launched.
Today morning the body of the child was sighted in a nallah, they said.
A police officer confirming the incident to GNS said that prima facie it appears that the girl has been raped and then murdered.
However, a firm conclusion would be drawn only after the report of the postmortem comes, he said.
A 30-year-old suspected into the rape and murder of the child has been arrested, he said.
“We have arrested a 30-year-old suspected. The accused has been seen moving in suspicious conditions around the spot while he was also seen in inebriated state last evening with blood stains on his clothes,” the officer said.
“We are still in primary stage of our investigations and details will be putforth once we are done with our formalities,” the official added. (GNS)
