Blue Eyed Employees In Waqaf Board Eying On Extension

Srinagar: Several blue eyed employees of Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board, who have retired from the services or have reached the age of retirement are using their influence to get extension, which if granted will close the opportunities for youth to replace them.

Insiders told CNS that some retired employees and those who are about to retire, are trying their best to get extension of services, using their influence, adding that if granted, that will close all the doors for young people to be employed in their place.

They alleged that looking at the irregularities and violation of service rules in the Board, they apprehend that these people with vested interest may even be successful in their effort.

They said, “On one side our youth are suffering from unemployment and on the other doors of employment opportunities are being closed on them by a possible attempt of granting extension to the employees, who are at the verge of retirement.”

They said, “Being a government controlled board JK Waqaf Board is bound to follow official service rules, which say that an employee must be shifted from the place of posting, where he has served for two years, but ironically here employees have not been disturbed from their places of posting since last ten to fifteen years.”

“Be it shrines or board offices, you will find employees, who have not been transferred from there since last more than fifteen years’, they added.

They said that on his appointment as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Waqaf Board, the incumbent CEO had said that he will streamline the functioning of the board, but till now no action has been taken to free that board from irregularities, prevalent at a mass level in the board, since last many decades.

They requested Lt. Governor G C Murmu and his Advisor Farooq Ahmed Khan, in-charge Waqaf Board Affairs to look into the functioning of the board and take necessary action to streamline it and to stop the possible grant of extension to the retiring employees. (CNS)
