BJP Removed Art 370 By Giving Hollow Slogans Of Development: Mehbooba Mufti

Poonch: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has said that the Central Government led by Bhartiya Janta Party abrogated Article 370 by selling the people of the State dreams of development but that development is nowhere in sight.

“The situation is continuously deteriorating in J&K. Corruption is at its peak and even for minor works, people have to give bribe to the officials. Neither the common masses nor the opposition leaders can speak against the BJP Government or its policies,” Mehbooba said.

She was interacting with the media persons at Dak Bungalow, Poonch during her tour to the district.

The PDP chief said, “Unemployment is rising in the State. Even young and educated youth are not getting employment today. People from other parts of the country are today snatching our jobs. Works in various Government departments are also being allotted to the outsiders and the BJP is talking of development in J&K”.

Is this the development, she questioned and asserted that it should be the priority of the Government to give state jobs and works to locals only and make efforts to end corruption in Government offices.

The former CM said that every day one or another delegation is being sent by the BJP Government in J&K despite pandemic situation but when we (opposition party leaders) have to go outside the State, the pandemic situation gets worse for the BJP.

On a question, Mehbooba said that when they were in alliance with BJP in J&K, they did not allow the Saffron party to play with Article 370 but after the alliance broke, the BJP not only abrogated Article 370 but also divided the State into two union territories.

Earlier, PDP chief held a meeting with PDP workers at Dak Bungalow and took many decisions to strengthen the party. (Agencies)
