BJP preparing for another Balakot like strike to gain votes: Mehbooba

Srinagar, Apr 15: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president and former chief minister, Mehbooba Mufti on Monday said that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was preparing for another Balakote like strike to gain the votes.

Mehbooba in a tweet said it seems like misappropriation of jawans sacrifices and polarising the electorate hasn’t helped BJP as it was now creating fear psychosis by using national security as a guise to prepare ground for another Balakot-like strike.

“In its desperation to win this election, seems like misappropriation of our jawans sacrifices & polarising the electorate hasn’t helped BJP. Now they are creating fear psychosis by using national security as a guise to prepare ground for another Balakot-like strike,” Mehbooba tweeted.

Mehbooba was referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s reference to Pulwama attack and the consequent Balakot strike.

However, while addressing a rally at Bijbehara area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, Mehbooba termed Balakote strike as drama, saying an investigation be started into the Pulwama attack that left over 40 CRPF personnel dead.

She said that whatever the BJP has been doing over the past few months or could do in coming days is in the face of a possible electoral defeat in the ongoing parliamentary elections.

In another tweet, Mehbooba while reacting to Modi’s speech wherein he had stated that Jammu and Kashmir is tired of NC and PDP’s self seeking politics, Mehbooba said that Kashmir belongs to its people and was not anybody’s heirloom to inherit.

“Kashmir belongs to Kashmiris. Not anybody’s heirloom to inherit. Self seeking politics is intentionally blurring lines between self & country, exploiting armed forces to grab power, fuelling communal politics & dividing the country in the name of religion. Kuch yaad aaya?” she tweeted. (KNS)
