Bird flu scare: Crows found dead mysteriously in Shopian village

Shopian, Feb 22: Amid bird flu scare, several crows were found dead mysteriously in Balapora village of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Monday, triggering a panic in the area.
Officials told ANN that half dozen crows were found dead in Balapora village of Shopian this morning. Some locals spotted dead crows and informed the concerned department.
Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTs) team rushed to the spot and collected the blood samples from dead crows and sent it to Zakura laboratory for Screening, they said.
Officials said that RRTs has put in place a mechanism to combat the situation in case of a bird flu outbreak in the district.
Meanwhile, H5N8 (Avian influenza) popularly known as bird flu has been reported from Arbal area of Dooru in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district following which a rapid response team was constituted.
