Bhadarwah Killing: Curfew Continues On 4th Day, Magisterial Probe Ordered, 15 Arrested
Bhaderwah: A day after constituting a special investigation team (SIT), the district administration on Sunday ordered a magisterial probe into the killing of an elderly man and the subsequent incidents of vandalism.
DDC Doda, Dr Sagar Dattaray Doifode said that keeping in view the gravity of the matter, magisterial probe has been ordered into the killing of Nayeem Ahmad Shah and the subsequent violence in Bhadarwah.
“SDM Thathri, Mohd Anwar Banday(KAS) has been appointed as Magistrate for the inquiry,” said DDC Doda, Dr Sagar Dattaray Doifode.
A six-member SIT (special investigation team), headed by Superintendent of Police Bhadarwah, Raj Singh Gouria, is also on the job and police have detained 15 suspects so far, including 8 in Murder case and 7 for violence, which erupted after the killing.
According to police, no untoward incident took place since Friday in any part of the communally sensitive town or elsewhere, where killing of Nayeem triggered massive protests and group clashes on Thursday, forcing authorties to impose indefinite curfew.
Following improvement in the situation, Army was withdrawn from all parts of the town and only sleuths of Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF remained deployed to maintain law and order.
