Bandipora Case Will Be Taken To Logical Conclusion: DGP
Appeals people to maintain calm
Srinagar: Appealing the people to remain claim, Director General of Police, Dilbagh Singh Sunday said the alleged rape of a minor girl in Bandipora district “is being investigated very seriously”.
“We have formed the special investigation team and case is being investigated seriously. We will take the investigations to logical conclusion and people must remain calm” DGP said.
The police chief said that accused has already been arrested. “There is some dispute on the age of accused,” he said. “That is being verified by SSP Bandipora and issue will be sorted out.”
The DGP said, “We will investigate and do every effort so that the guilty gets exemplary punishment,” he said adding that investigation is being carried out very swiftly.
Police had on Saturday constituted a SIT comprising sub-divisional police officer Sumbal, station house officer Sumbal, and senior prosecuting officer.
Pertinently, a three year old girl in Bandipora was allegedly raped by a local boy at Trigam locality of Sumbal in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
Acting on complaint of the victim’s family, police have arrested the accused, a resident of district Bandipora.
After the family of the victim lodged a complaint, the police registered a case under sections 363 (kidnapping), 342 (wrongful confinement) and 376 (rape) of the Ranbir Penal Code at the Sumbal police station and arrested the accused.
