Authorities warn govt teachers against practicing private tuition in Baramulla
Srinagar, Dec 23: Authorities in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday directed for blanket ban on private coaching by government teachers at the tuition centres.
The practice of private coaching by government teachers became illegal in J&K by virtue of The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009, which came into effect in the UT after the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019 and provides for free and compulsory elementary education to children in the age group of 6-14 years.
An order issued by Chief Education Officer Baramulla issued on Thursday while cautioning teachers, masters and lecturers of the district not to practice private tuition/coaching in any private institution/coaching centre, directed the school heads to certify that none of their teacher/lecturer is unauthorizedly involved in private tuition.
“Any of the teaching personal found violating the directives, strict action shall be taken against the official involved as it amounts to serious violation of the Government Employees Service Conduct Rules which prohibits on the practice of Tuition/Involvement in private tutorial in any capacity by Government School Teachers”, read the order.
It also instructed the Zonal Education Officers to maintain strict vigil over the violation to the said directions and prompt reporting to this office thereof.
