Assistant Professor From Kulgam Booked Under UAPA Granted Bail

Srinagar: Dr Abdul Bari who was booked under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act in March has been granted bail by the NIA court in Anantnag Kashmir on thursday.

Dr. Bari who had been posted at the Udhampur Degree College in March was picked by Police in the Udhamur area on Friday. He was terminated from his services earlier this year for his alleged role in Anti National Activities.

Speaking to The Kashmiriyat Dr. Abdul Bari confirmed that he has been released from the custody at Central Jail in Srinagar.

The bail order reads that, “Whereas by the virtue of the order dated the 7 day of October 2021, petitioner/accused named above has been admitted to interim bail till 25.10.2021 subject to furnishing bond to the tune of R.50,000/ as also ‘surety in the like amount by him. Same stands furnished, accepted and attested by this court.”

Dr. Bari has been ordered to not leave Jammu Kashmir without the orders of the court. “He shall remain available with the investigating officer of the case, as and  when for the completion of the investigation, if not already completed; and shall also remain present before this court on each and every hearing of this case.”

“He shall not hamper or tamper with the prosecution evidence,” the court order read.

In a show cause notice in 2018, Dr. Bari in his response to the show-cause notice by the District Administration in Kulgam district had written, “FIR has been charged by the army against me related to the case of a youngster from Kadder who has been ruthlessly beaten to the pulp while saving the holy Quran from desacralization during a search operation. Besides, A lot of public property has got damaged by the army. Since. we claim good ties between the army and youth and have to work in support of it. I always support peace and tranquility. Besides I want to minimize the gap between in uniform and youth of Jammu and Kashmir. I raised my voice against this cruel act and released the video of this this is against this injustice is a crime in a democratic nation. then this is the teas raising an FIR has been lodged against me.” (The Kashmiriyat)
