Art of Living Holds “Lal Be Drayas” event at Kashmir University

Srinagar, Oct 25: The Art of Living Foundation on Friday held the “Lal Be Drayas,” an immersive opera based on the life of the revered mystic poetess, Lal-Ded.

 

 

 

The event was organized under the leadership of Vandana Daftari Regional Director, Art of Living.

 

 

 

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha was as Chief guest on the occassion while other dignitaries, including Principal Secretary of the J&K Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages, Shri Suresh Gupta, and Vice Chancellor of Kashmir University and Prof. Nelofar Khan were present on the occassion.

 

 

 

Spokesperson said that Art Of Living organisation took a lead in initiating the first of its kind theatrical experience to pay a tribute to Lal-Ded’s spiritual and literary contributions that continues to inspire generations.

 

 

 

 

 

He added that “Lal Be Drayas” seeks to bring her teachings to life through a modern theatrical experience, blending traditional Kashmiri music and contemporary sound techniques, masterfully crafted by Kishan Langoo Ji and his team.

“The opera aims to engage the youth and reignite their connection to Kashmir’s cultural legacy, emphasizing the timeless relevance of Lal-Ded’s message.”

 

 

 

 

 

Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has expressed the foundation’s commitment to preserving cultural heritage while fostering unity and understanding in today’s divided world.

“In a time when society faces unprecedented challenges, we need to revive and celebrate the rich traditions that bind us together.

 

 

 

 

 

‘Lal Be Drayas’ is a step towards reconnecting with our roots, especially for the youth, through a creative and enlightening performance,” he said.

“The opera marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to preserve Kashmir’s artistic traditions and honor the enduring spirit of Lal-Ded.”
