Army is set to launch a community radio station in the Kanth Bagh area of north Kashmir
The Indian Army’s initiative to launch ‘Radio Baramulla’ in the Kanth Bagh area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district signifies a significant step towards nurturing local talent and empowering the community. Named with the tagline “Alfaaz Hamare Ehsaas Appke” and operating at the frequency of 89.6 FM, the station aims to provide coverage to various areas in the district, thereby reaching a wide audience.
Equipped with essential facilities such as a full-fledged studio, recording room, lounge, and server room, Radio Baramulla will serve as a comprehensive platform for the local community. The station’s operations will be managed by six individuals from the local community, including the Station Head, three radio jockeys, a content creator, and a caretaker.
Prior to its inauguration, the station has already established an active presence on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, reflecting its commitment to reaching a broader audience and engaging with the community effectively.
Station Head RJ Sajid Khan expressed his gratitude towards the Indian Army for providing him with the opportunity to fulfill his childhood dream of becoming a radio jockey. He emphasized the station’s primary goals of informing, educating, and entertaining the general public through diverse programs covering topics such as development, women empowerment, farming, and government schemes.
This initiative highlights the Indian Army’s commitment to empowering local communities and providing platforms for the expression of local talent and voices. Radio Baramulla is poised to become a valuable asset for the community, fostering dialogue, entertainment, and development in the region.
