Approximately 30 Militants Suspected To Be Active In The Rajouri-Poonch Sector: Defense Sources

JAMMU: In the Rajouri-Poonch sector, approximately 30 militants, suspected to be of Pakistani origin, are reportedly active, according to defense sources. The concerning development suggests that Pakistan is making efforts to revive militancy in this region.

Sources indicate that 25-30 Pakistani militants are believed to be hiding in the forested areas of the Rajouri-Poonch sector, with intentions to launch attacks on security forces.

The situation is viewed as part of a larger strategic maneuver by Pakistan and China. The objective appears to be exerting pressure on the Indian Army to redeploy its troops from Ladakh to the Rajouri-Poonch sector.

This broader plan is seen as an attempt to prevent India from easing its presence in Jammu and Kashmir while maintaining a standoff with Indian forces in Ladakh, where tensions have persisted for the past three years.

The Indian Army had previously relocated the Uniform Force of Rashtriya Rifles from the Poonch sector to Ladakh in 2020 to counter Chinese aggression.

This move aimed at rebalancing forces and applying pressure on the People’s Liberation Army (PLA). However, with the reported resurgence of militant activities in the Rajouri-Poonch sector, concerns arise about Pakistan sending its own militants to the area.

The Indian Army had recently moved in one more brigade to counter militant activities and has achieved success in the area.

Earlier on Thursday evening, four Army personnel were killed while three others were injured in the forest area of Dera ki Gali in the Rajouri district after two Army vehicles were ambushed by heavily armed militants.(ANI)
