Apni Party candidate elected as DDC chairman in Srinagar

Srinagar, Feb 6: J&K Apni Party Candidate Atab Malik was Saturday elected as Chairman of Srinagar District Development Council (DDC).
Malik bagged 10 votes out f 13, an official informed ANN News.
Out of 14 elected DDC members, only 13 were present during the polls to DDC chairmanship. The opponent of Malik bagged just 3 votes.
The post of vice chairman to DDC Srinagar was also bagged by Apni Party.
The Apni Party candidate Bilal Bhat bagged nine votes against his opponent who just bagged four votes.
The DDC elections were held in Jammu and Kashmir for the first time after the Centre amended the Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Raj Act, 1989, after the revocation of Article 370 in 2019.
Gupkar Declaration Peoples Alliance (PAGD) — an amalgam of various regional political parties seeking restoration of special status to J&K— had fielded joint candidates in DDC polls across J&K.
