Any discussion on Kashmir, will only be with Pakistan, bilaterally: MEA
New Delhi: External Affairs Minister Dr Subrahmanyam Jaishankar on Friday said that he conveyed to his American counterpart US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in clear terms that any discussion on Kashmir will only be with Pakistan and only bilaterally.
”Have conveyed to American counterpart US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo this morning in clear terms that any discussion on Kashmir, if at all warranted, will only be with Pakistan and only bilaterally,” news agency ANI quoted Jaishankar as saying.
Jaishankar’s comment comes hours after US President Donald Trump once again stated that he is ready to intervene on Kashmir issue between India and Pakistan.
Trump speaking to reporters on Thursday said: “It’s really up to Prime Minister Modi (to accept the offer of mediation). I think they are fantastic people – Khan and Modi – I mean. I would imagine they could get along very well, but if they wanted somebody to intervene, to help them and I spoke with Pakistan about that and I spoke frankly in India about it. If I can, if they wanted me to, I would certainly intervene.”
