Anantnag Youth Dies Due To Grenade Explosion; Says Police

Anantnag, Jun 16: Police on Saturday said that the youth who died earlier in the morning in Anantnag had received multiple splinter injuries due to grenade explosion and succumbed instantly.

A police spokesperson in a statement issued here said that as reported by certain sections of media that one person died in clashes with security forces at Anantnag is refuted .

“Preliminary investigation reveals that a grenade exploded in the area resulting in the death of one Sheraz Ahmad Naikoo son of Gh Mohiuddin of Brakpora due to splinter injuries and his right hand got fully damaged,” the spokesperson said.

He said that further details with regard to the incident are being ascertained.

Earlier, locals and hospital officials said that the youth had received multiple wounds in his throat, face and chest after fired by pellets from very close range. (GNS)
