Anantnag Police Targets Drug Dealing, Arrests Notorious Drug Peddler with Narcotics

In its ongoing efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Anantnag Police have arrested another drug peddler and recovered a significant amount of narcotics.

A Police team from Bijbehara Police Station set up a checkpoint at Doudnard Waghama near the under-construction bridge and intercepted a Santro vehicle bearing registration number JK13C-0941. During the search, the Police recovered approximately 95.830 Kgs of Poppy straw from the vehicle. The driver, identified as Umer Ismail Dass, son of Mohd Ismail Dass of Waghama Bijbehara, was arrested on the spot. Both the contraband and the vehicle used in the crime have been seized.

A case under relevant sections of the law has been registered at Bijbehara Police Station, and the investigation is underway.
