Anantnag Police Intensify Crackdown on Illegal Activities; Locals Praise Action
Anantnag, Oct 07: In a sustained effort to curb unlawful activities, Anantnag Police have taken decisive action this year—apprehending 21 drug peddlers, seizing 25 vehicles involved in illegal mining, and arresting nine gamblers and three fraudsters, officials confirmed on Monday.
Police teams from multiple stations, led by SHO Sadar Anantnag Majid Hassan Khan, D.O Sameer Ahmad and D.O Janglat-Mandi Nisar Ahmad, have been operating under the close supervision of SSP Anantnag to eliminate social evils and maintain law and order across the district.
“Anantnag Police have carried out commendable work aimed at cleansing society from drugs, illegal mining, gambling, and fraud-related activities,” an official said.
So far, 21 FIRs have been registered against drug peddlers, while 25 vehicles—comprising dumpers and tractors—used in illegal mining operations have been confiscated. In addition, nine gamblers were arrested with cash recoveries, and three individuals involved in fraud were taken into custody.
Residents have applauded the police’s proactive stance and consistent efforts toward ensuring community safety. “We fully support the police in their mission to rid our society of these social evils,” said locals.
Authorities reiterated their resolve to maintain a tough stance against anti-social elements and called for public cooperation in transforming Anantnag into a crime-free district.
