Anantnag Police Apprehends Drug Peddler, Contraband seized

Today on 14-05-2025,during routine Naka checking at Akura-Nambal Crossing, a suspicious individual approaching from the Nambal side towards Akura Bridge attempted to flee upon noticing the police party. Acting swiftly, the alert personnel apprehended the suspect on the spot.
Upon questioning, he identified himself as Arif Ahmad Shah S/O Abdul Hameed Shah R/O Bon-Nambal. During his personal search 600 capsules of Spasmo-Proxyvon Plus, a contraband drug regulated under the NDPS Act were recovered.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 41/2025 under Section 8/21 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Mattan and investigation has been taken up.
District Police Anantnag reiterates its firm commitment to root out the menace of drugs from society and urges the general public to extend cooperation by sharing credible information regarding drug peddling or any other illegal activities in their areas.
