Amid confusion over Eid holiday, employees return to duty, banks closed

Srinagar April 11
Amid confusion over Eid Holiday on Wednesday the employees of Jammu & Kashmir Government have returned to duty despite no modification order from the Jammu & Kashmir Government’s General Administration Department or administrative secretaries of other departments.

However Banks are closed under some directive from Reserve Bank Of India(RBI).

Reports said that confusion over Eid Holiday on Wednesday started with Jammu & Kashmir celebrating Eid on Wednesday alongwith Ladhak Union Territory, Tamil Nadu and Kerala and rest of the country celebrating it today on Thursday.  Notably it was a precedence of the past that State/ UT Governments used to issue separate orders in case of festivals like Eid being celebrated on different dates in different states in the country but this time the J&K Government did not follow the precedence and is silent without issuing any modification order or clarification. Though the Ladhak UT Administration and J&K High Court in their separate orders have declared Eid Holiday for Wednesday and Thursday a working day but no such order has been issued by Jammu & Kashmir Government and Jammu & Kashmir Bank. While chaos and confusion persisted over the Eid holiday in Government Departments on Thursday when employees returned to duty after celebrating Eid on Wednesday, the Jammu & Kashmir  Banl was closed on Thursday following some directive from Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
However in internal communications the drawing and disbursing officers have asked the employees to return for duty on Thursday. In the internal communication the drawing and disbursing officer have said ” there is no need to worry about the day which displays Wednesday not as a Holiday For Eid ul Fitr on the Dashboard  of Smart Attendance,  As you know the date of Eid is not a fixed date So  the  System Analysts/ App  Developers have kept this day as vacant.
Now the new updation in the Smart Attendance app will make  it clear and the said date will be  treated  as a Holiday. This is the job of computer programmers who are  handling and  managing this app  and they will clear all the ambiguity while updating  this app and will consider the same date as a holiday. All are requested to  kindly note .

Interestingly non muslim government employees are allowed 3-4 day mass casual leave as Puja holidays and even this time Kashmiri Pandit government employees are availing 4 days mass casual in connection with Navratra festival that was celebrated Tuesday this week.(KNS)
