Ahsan Pardesi seeks compensation for hailstorm affected cherry growers in Dara, Fakir Gujri Hamlets

 

Asks admin to reach out to affected with relief, compensation

Srinagar May 8:  The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Provincial Vice President  kashmir Ahsan Pardesi on Saturday  asked the administration to reach out to hailstorm affected cherry orchardists in Dara, and Fakir Gujri areas of Srinagar, saying the gravity of the losses in the hamlets is immense.
Expressing anguish over the destruction wreaked by heavy hailstorm and resultant losss es incurred by farmers, Ahsan said “cherry growers in these hamlets were eying good profit this year from the fruit produce to make for the previous year losses. The heavy hail and the subsequent downpour has dashed their hopes. The affected pockets are mainly populated by tribal communities, whoseincured  financial conditions are not hidden from the view of administration. Therefore it is imperative for the administration to come to their rescue with adequate relief and compensation.”
He impressed upon the district administration to depute revenue teams to the affected pockets of Dara and Fakir Gujri to ascertain the sheer degree of losses incurred by local cherry growers so that the amount of compensation is worked out and distributed forthwith.
Pardesi also asked the incumbent LG administration to pass directives to the concerned agriculture department and SKAUST   faculty members to visit the affected hamlets to guide the affected cherry growers  minister to the injuries to the trees on scientific lines.
He also asked the district administration to restore electricity in the affected hamlets on priority basis.
