Buried alive in grave; new-born baby dies in Srinagar hospital

Banihal, May 25: A new-born baby who was buried alive soon after her death in Banihal breathed her last in GB Pant Hospital Srinagar on Wednesday morning.
Two days ago, a newborn baby declared dead at Sub District Hospital Banihal in Ramban district on Monday was later found to be alive while being taken for burial by family members.
Later, the medicos had referred her to GB Pant Hospital for advanced treatment where she struggled for around 48 hours.
“The baby expired today morning,” Medical Superintendent Nazir Choudhary confirmed to ANN News.
Authorities in Banihal Sub-District Hospital has suspended two hospital employees following the protest by the infant’s family on Monday.
Family members alleged that Bankoot resident Basharat Ahmed’s wife gave birth at the hospital who was declared death and buried.
However, it was later noticed by family that the infant was alive and rushed to hospital for treatment.
