After accusing Police, Court of being “Biased”, a group of Sikh members ‘mishandle’ journalists terming them “workers of terrorists”

Srinagar, July 1: A group of Sikh community members ‘mishandled’ the journalists working for local, national and international media houses.

The group of Sikh community had invited media persons to cover their press conference at Baghar Gurdwara here. However, before commencement of press conference some Sikh community members present there accused media persons of “biased reporting.”

They ‘mishandled’ journalists and accused them of being working for “terrorist outfits.” This forced the media persons to boycott the scheduled event and to move to safer places for their own safety.

A journalist who was part of media group to cover the scheduled presser, said that some Sikh community member showed the knives and swords toward to media persons telling them that they would “slaughtered.”

Leaders of Sikh Community were scheduled to hold a press conference at Gurudwara Shaheed Bunga Sahib, Baghat Barzulla at 11 AM today.

The organizers had requested media personnel to cover the presser. An invitation was extended to the media by Santpal Singh, President Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee Budgam, who had yesterday invited media to cover the press conference at Gurdwara in Baghat Barzulla over the controversy which erupted over interfaith marriages.

Earlier, a on Sunday, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, president of Delhi Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee, who landed in Srinagar, protested here along with a group of Sikhs. He accused “J&K Police and Court” being “biased.”

He had also accused that a girl was abducted on “gun point” the theory never proved even prima facie.

“We are here to protest the abduction of two girls at gunpoint and their forced Nikah with elderly men. After that their parents were not even allowed to enter court. When we protested outside the court only then was one of the girls was handed over to us. It was a forced conversion,” Sirsa had said.

J&K Muslim brethren, Muslim leaders and organizations have stood with Sikh brethren and assured them that justice will be delivered and no one will be allowed to hurt their religious sentiments in any manner or form.

However, some people continue to accuse the “Police, Court and Muslims” of being “biased.” Even, the media persons today were accused of being “workers of terrorist outfits.”
